After Hurricane Helene tore through Asheville, North Carolina, Taylor Schenker found about 200 family photos buried in mud and debris—none of them hers. Instead of leaving them behind, she started an Instagram page called “Photos from Helene,” posting images to reunite them with their owners. Wedding pictures, baby photos, snapshots of grandparents—small pieces of people’s lives are finding their way back home.
