Tri-paws, blind, deaf, and wheelchair dogs find inclusive haven.

At the Broken Biscuits Dog Park in Lincoln, United Kingdom, dogs in wheelchairs race around a custom track, earning their driver’s licenses after passing an adorable test. It’s the world’s first park designed specifically for disabled dogs.

The 7-acre facility welcomes wheelchair users, tri-paws, blind and deaf dogs, along with their able-bodied friends who join the play. A cafe provides rest stops. Wooden fixtures and small houses offer hiding spots for shy pups. Live cameras let volunteers monitor everyone’s safety.

Founder Cassie Carney created Broken Biscuits over 15 years ago after recognizing that disabled dogs wait far longer for adoption than others, if they’re adopted at all. Her charity provides wheelchairs and equipment to families who can’t afford devices that give paralyzed dogs their mobility back.

The park represents a milestone in the mission to make disabled dogs visible. As the organization puts it, different is great. Every detail exists to celebrate what these dogs can do, not what they can’t. The skate dates, driving school, and racing events prove that wheelchairs don’t limit joy. They enable it.

The Heart of It:

Every being deserves a place where they belong exactly as they are. Inclusion isn’t charity. It’s recognizing that differences enrich communities, that limitations we see often exist more in our infrastructure than in individuals. When we build spaces that welcome everyone, we discover abilities we never thought to look for. A dog in a wheelchair doesn’t need pity. It needs a ramp, a track, and other dogs who just want to play.
