A Historic Release

On World Cheetah Day 2025, India celebrated an emotional conservation moment: Veera, a female cheetah, and her two cubs were released into the wild at Kuno National Park. This marks a major step in India’s nationwide effort to reintroduce cheetahs after they were declared extinct in the country 70 years ago.

A Growing Population

The release is part of a carefully monitored rewilding project involving international wildlife experts, veterinarians, and forest staff. Veera and her cubs have shown strong survival instincts, making them ideal candidates for wild release.
